Downed Watertown Utility Poles Narrowly Misses Mom, Child

Two utility pole near Calvin and Arlington Streets in Watertown went down Tuesday morning, nearly hitting a car with a young mother and her baby inside.

According to CBS Boston, the woman and child were in their car when the poles went down “without warning’’ at approximately 11 a.m.

No injuries were reported, but officials from the Watertown Fire Department were on the scene. Officials from NStar and Verizon were also on hand after a dozen buildings in the area reportedly lost power because of the downed transformer.

According to the report, investigators are working to determine why the poles fell down.
