Minor Train Accident to Cause ‘Significant Delays’ This Afternoon

Passengers can expect “significant delays’’ on commuter rail service leaving South Station Wednesday afternoon.

The MBTA’s Twitter account for commuter rail updates advised riders to expect some late trains following an “incident impeding tracks.’’ MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told BostInno that a slow-moving commuter rail train bumped into the back of an Amtrak car in the station’s rail yard.

There were no injuries reported:

The MBTA was temporarily running buses for some service on the Fairmount Line, though regular service has now resumed as of 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
