BARRINGTON, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island doctor has pleaded no contest to a charge that he hosted a drinking party for teenagers at his Barrington home.
The Providence Journal reported Tuesday (http://bit.ly/15gKTS1 ) that Bruce Becker, a professor at Brown University’s medical school, entered his plea last week in District Court. He was fined $500.
Police say they found beer, vodka and champagne after breaking up the July 30 party at Becker’s Barrington home. Police say Becker told the teens to run when officers approached.
Becker told police he purchased soft drinks for his son’s 18th birthday party but didn’t know alcohol was present. Police say a table was set up for playing a drinking game.
A message left with Becker on Tuesday was not immediately returned.
