Resources for Boston-area residents with disabilities

1. If you have a question or complaint about accessibility for people with disabilities in any municipal property, program, or service in the city of Boston, call the Commission for Persons with Disabilities at 617-635-2500 or e-mail CivilRights@ci.boston.ma.us.

2. The Massachusetts Office on Disability administers a Client Service Program that provides information about government programs for people with disabilities and will investigate reports of civil rights violations against people with disabilities. Call the Client Service Program at 617-727-7440 or 800-322-2020 (V/TTY) or e-mail Phyllis.Mitchell@modi.state.ma.us.

3. The Boston Center for Independent Living has been providing services, community education, advocacy, and employment to people with disabilities since 1974. More information can be found online at www.bostoncil.org or by calling 617-338-6665 or 617-338-6662 (TDD).

4. Bostonians with disabilities who have legal concerns about a business or institution's accessibility or want information about ongoing disability access campaigns can call the Disability Law Center at 617-723-8455 or 617-227-9464 (TTY). They're also online at www.dlc-ma.org.

5. Information on rights and responsibilities under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act is available free of charge from the New England ADA & Accessible IT Center. Contact the center at 800-949-4232 (V/TTY).
