Peters adjusts to life on the college pitch

Freshman Alison Peters's first goal for the Holy Cross women's soccer team this fall turned out to be an important one, as the Crusaders edged Lafayette, 2-1, in a Patriot League game.

Peters, a Bolton resident, played four years of soccer and basketball in high school -- the first two years at Nashoba Regional and her junior and senior years at Hudson High School. She was an All-State pick, league All-Star, and league MVP in soccer her junior year. As a senior, she repeated her league and state All-Star honors, was chosen to the All-New England Team, and set a single-season girls' scoring record at Hudson with 50 points.

"Alison has a tremendous amount of composure and a sense for the goal inside the box. She is calm and cool under pressure," said Holy Cross coach Deb Flaherty. "She is one of those players who takes a year to adjust to the style and speed of play at this level and then will absolutely excel in the future. She is very athletic and great with the ball at her feet, and she is going to be a big weapon for us for years to come."

In high school, Peters was also a standout basketball player, scoring 1,221 points over her four-year career. She was voted to league All-Star teams four times. Peters's father, Art, is an assistant principal at a Hudson middle school.
