Veronica Gorman, 95, retired teacher

Veronica L. ''Vera" (Harrington) Gorman of Melrose, a former elementary school teacher, died Nov. 1 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody. She was 95.

Mrs. Gorman was born in East Boston and raised in Melrose. She graduated from Melrose High School and Salem Normal School.

She taught elementary school at the Lafayette School in Everett for 14 years before leaving to raise her family. Mrs. Gorman later returned to teaching and spent 14 years at the Forestdale School in Malden before she retired in 1971.

Mrs. Gorman was the wife of the late Daniel E. Gorman Sr.

She leaves two sons, Thomas E. Gorman of North Reading and Daniel E. Gorman Jr. of Melrose; one daughter, Andrea M. Gelder of Maine; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Franklin Sorrento, 57; was machinist
Franklin J. Sorrento Sr. of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, a former machinist, died Oct. 31 at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness. He was 57.

He was born and raised in Lynn. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School with the class of 1965. Later, he attended electrical trade school in Boston.

He worked as a machinist at the General Electric Riverworks Plant in Lynn for more than 24 years before he retired. He lived in Peabody for the past nine years.

He leaves his wife, Kathleen Sorrento, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage; one son, Franklin J. Sorrento Jr. of Manchester, N.H.; one daughter, Jaima Baldwin of West Townsend; two sisters, Joan Pelletier of Titusville, Fla., and Michelle Sorrento-Mugford of Peabody; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Stefan Golemba, 82; was meat cutter
Stefan Golemba of Beverly, a retired meat cutter, died Nov. 1 at Beverly Hospital. He was 82.

Mr. Golemba was born in Dzurkin Village, Ukraine, and was raised and educated in Ukraine. He and his wife, the late Olga Golemba, lived in Germany before moving to Brazil in 1949. In 1962, they moved to Boston, where they lived for 18 years. Mr. Golemba lived in Beverly since 1980.

He worked as a meat cutter for Pearl Brand Provisions in Roxbury until he retired in 1978.

He leaves one son, the Rev. Monsignor Roman Golemba of Woonsocket, R.I.; one daughter, Anna Andruszkiewicz of Peabody; and two grandchildren.

Russell Watson, 79; former Lynn grocer
Russell C. Watson of Peabody, a former grocer and businessman, died Nov. 1 at Salem Hospital. He was 79.

Mr. Watson was born in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School with the class of 1943. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II.

He became a wholesale grocer with George J. Face Co. in Lynn until the late 1950s. In 1961, he founded Watson Carbonic Gas & Syrup, which supplied cola products for fountain service on the North Shore.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Priscilla Watson; sons, Kenneth Watson of Foxborough and Stephen Watson of Reading; a daughter, Marcia DiSalvo of Aspen, Colo.; a brother, Richard Watson of Wolfeboro, N.H.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
