Robert Vecchione,22, senior at NU

Matthew Robert Vecchione of Peabody, a senior at Northeastern University, died Nov. 10 at Union Hospital in Lynn. He was 22.

Mr. Vecchione was born in Stoneham and had lived in Revere for five years before moving to Peabody 17 years ago.

He graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School with the class of 2000. During high school, he played hockey, lacrosse, and football.

He was attending Northeastern University in Boston and was taking courses in business and marketing. He had worked for the Boston Stock Exchange in conjunction with the Northeastern co-op program.

He enjoyed vacationing in Cancun and the islands.

Mr. Vecchione leaves his parents, Robert P. and Linda Vecchione of Peabody; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Vecchione of Revere; two aunts; two uncles; and many cousins.

Michael Nahatis, former comptroller

Michael G. Nahatis of Manchester by the Sea, a former office manager and comptroller, died Nov. 10 at Beverly Hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Nahatis was born in Lowell and lived in Manchester by the Sea for most of his life. He went to school there and later attended the Franklin Union Institute in Boston.

He served in the Navy during World War II as a pharmacist's mate 1st class aboard the USS LMS 154.

After returning from the war, Mr. Nahatis conducted research on the chemical composition of blood at Harvard Medical School. Later, he worked with his brother, Chris Nahatis, at Saladmaster of New England for 50 years. There he was the office manager and comptroller.

He was a member of the Masons for 50 years, a past master of the Manchester Lodge A.F. & A.M., a past master of the 28th Lodge of Instruction, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Salem, and a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine.

He also belonged to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Ipswich and the Amaral-Bailey Post 113 American Legion of Manchester by the Sea. He had served on the Manchester by the Sea Finance Committee.

He enjoyed carpentry, golf, football, big band music, and dancing.

Mr. Nahatis leaves his wife, Helen C. Nahatis; three sons, Alexander M. Nahatis of Danvers, Dean M. Nahatis of Haddonfield, N.J., and Harry M. Nahatis of Brookline; one brother, Christos G. Nahatis of Manchester by the Sea; one sister, Zoe Nahatis of Manchester by the Sea; three granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine Walor, Sylvania worker

Josephine C. (Luczo) Walor of Peabody, a former assembler for GTE Sylvania, died Nov. 13 at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 93.

Mrs. Walor was born in Salem, where she was raised and educated. She had lived in Peabody for the past 51 years.

Mrs. Walor had worked as an assembler for GTE Sylvania. Later she worked for 20 years for the Ideal Baby Shoe Co. in Danvers before she retired.

She was a member of the Golden Agers and the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center in Peabody. She enjoyed dancing and traveling.

Mrs. Walor leaves her husband, Joseph Walor, with whom she shared more than 71 years of marriage; two daughters, Louise Madore of Georgetown and Delores Lachendro of Enfield, Conn.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Damian Skoczylas, 28, used-car dealer

Damian J. Skoczylas of Peabody, a used-car dealer, died Nov. 9 at Salem Hospital after a short illness. He was 28.

Mr. Skoczylas was born in Pulawy, Poland, and had lived in Chicago, Fryeburg, Maine, and Hampton, N.H., before moving to Peabody 15 years ago.

He worked as a used-car dealer at Prestige Auto Sales of Topsfield and for the past year at Bavarian Motor Sports on the Lynnway in Lynn. He also had worked at his mother's store, Elizabeth's One-Stop Alteration, in Hampton, N.H.

Mr. Skoczylas enjoyed snowboarding, kayaking, and riding his motorcycle.

He leaves his parents, Jeisy and Eizbieta Skoczylas of Hampton, N.H.; his fiancee, Tiffany Lopes of Peabody; his daughter, Ciara Armani Skoczylas of Peabody; one brother, Rodney Skoczylas of Hampton, N.H.; and one sister, Jennifer Skoczylas of Hampton, N.H.

Alfred Renda, 74, meat cutter, packer

Alfred J. Renda of Peabody, a former meat cutter and packer, died Nov. 7 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness. He was 74.

Mr. Renda was born and raised in Chelsea. He attended Chelsea schools and graduated from Chelsea High School.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and had lived in Peabody for the past 41 years.

Mr. Renda had worked as a meat cutter and packer for Roxy Meat Market and later for NEPCO in Boston before retiring.

He enjoyed going to casinos and watching the Red Sox.

Mr. Renda leaves his wife, Connie Renda, with whom he shared more than 46 years of marriage.

He also leaves one son, Joseph Renda of Peabody; one daughter, Lillian Carey of Billerica; one brother, George Renda; two sisters, Lena Bellino of Stoneham and Mary Turner of Peabody; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
