WATERTOWN -- Roy V. Viklund, an Army veteran who served in Vietnam, died June 13 in his home. He was 61.
Mr. Viklund was a lifelong resident of Watertown. He received an associate degree in civil engineering from the Franklin Institute of Boston in 1963, a bachelor's degree in architecture from the Boston Architectural Center in 1975, and a master's degree in architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Mr. Viklund was involved in the planning and design of many institutional projects, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Al and Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Facility, the University of New Hampshire Whitmore Center, and the James Madison University Recreation Center. He also was part of the team that designed the sports and aquatic complexes at both the Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., and the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Mr. Viklund leaves two daughters, Jennifer Smith of Acton and Laura of Watertown; two sons, Christopher of Watertown and Grant of Culver City, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Moulton of Franklin, Tenn., and Ingrid Morrison of Wellesley; and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at the Eliot Church in Newton on July 16. Burial was June 18 in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Marion Berardino, 84, Natick resident
NATICK -- Marion H. (Gallo) Berardino, a resident of Natick for 45 years, died last Thursday in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was 84.
Mrs. Berardino was a member of the Emblem Club in Natick and was an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed dancing and cooking.
She leaves her husband of 64 years, Silvio A. of Natick; a son, David M. of Natick; four sisters, Antoinette Pizzi of Belmont, Jean Vello of Waltham, Elizabeth Willis of Framingham, and Patricia Stafford of Holliston; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Anthony Gallo and Eleanora Vultaggio.
A funeral Mass was said Tuesday in St. Patrick's Church in Natick. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery.![]()
