Dogs may have their day in court or at least City Hall when City Councilor Brian Murphy takes up off-leash dog runs at the Public Facilities Committee meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Murphy has pushed for more dog-specific areas. Cambridge has three sites for dogs to run off leash under their owners' control, at Washington Square Park, Danehy Park, and Fresh Pond reservation; none is completely fenced in.
Second steps
The annual dance party, planned for July 8 but canceled due to foul weather, has been rescheduled to July 29. The boogie fest will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. in front of City Hall. No rink ruling yet
A Middlesex Superior Court judge heard arguments from the city and the state Wednesday as both fight for the right to operate the Simoni Memorial Rink in East Cambridge. The city filed suit seeking a preliminary injunction against the state, claiming it is breaking the terms of a lease with the city, which owns the land. The state, which rejected the city's bid for the rink, agreed to wait for a final determination from the judge before signing a lease with a private operator. A decision is expected in a week to 10 days.
