While making Commonwealth Avenue between Kenmore Square and the BU Bridge ''much more pedestrian-friendly" (''Walk on, walk on, Comm. Ave.," Jan. 1, City Weekly) is commendable, it's curiously shortsighted to focus solely on pedestrian safety.
