In his words: ``Harvard ambulance had two saves that I was there for. I did one of them. I pressed the button [on the defibrillator ]. It kind of feels just like the training, so you're focused. We never talk about the calls we go on because of the HIPAA [privacy] Act. People sometimes send thank-you notes, but I guess you have to feel rewarded for yourself. The ambulance can't release what they did to the log or the newspaper. No one ever knows what you do except for the people on the ambulance and the patients. I enjoy it a lot. It's random. It keeps you on your toes. It's different each time. I like being a volunteer, but I wouldn't want to be a professional full-time EMT. I like the 911 calls, but it doesn't sound like fun going from nursing home to hospital all day. It's helping people in your town you know. It's nice to give back to your community."
In the words of school principal Tom Hall: ``He gives his time unselfishly to make the school a better place and he has carried that over to make the town a better place. He has a flair for politics, but doesn't like to be in the limelight. He likes to get things done behind the scenes."![]()
