Margaret Leonard, office manager, 93
SAUGUS -- Margaret E. (Sweeney) Leonard of Saugus, an office manager who enjoyed ballroom dancing , died Monday at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose . She was 93 .
Born in New Bedford , Mrs. Leonard was raised in Lynn. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1931 .
She attended Burdett School of Business in Boston and received her associate's degree in 1933 .
She moved to Peabody in 1943 , where she lived until 1980 .
She then returned to Lynn before moving to Saugus two years later .
Mrs. Leonard worked as an office manager at Congress Shirt in Boston for several years before joining the landscaping business with her husband, Leo , at Leo F. Leonard Landscaping in Peabody . She retired in 1978 .
In her free time, Mrs. Leonard enjoyed going to the movies and ballroom dancing with her husband.
She also liked to bowl, and was a member of the Southern Belles Bowling Team at Metro Bowl in Peabody .
She was a member of St. Ann Church in Peabody and participated in its Ladies Sodality .
Mrs. Leonard leaves two sons, Leo of Bondville, Vt., and John of Peabody ; her sister, Helen Smith of Tucson ; and three grandchildren .
A funeral Mass was to be said Friday in St. Ann Church . Burial was to be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Lynn .
Albert Snyder, 85; owned aviation firm
HAMPTON, N.H. -- Albert Snyder of Hampton, an Army Air Corps veteran who later owned an aviation design business , died Monday in Portsmouth Regional Hospital . He was 85.
Mr. Snyder was born in Philadelphia and raised in Jenkintown, Pa. Throughout his life, he was continually involved with aviation, starting when he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and later, when he owned and operated Skycraft Design in Yardley, Pa .
He moved the company to Hampton Airfield in Hampton in 1991 , and continued to work there for more than a dozen years .
He was married to Norma (Hunter) , who died in 2000 .
Mr. Snyder leaves two sons, Mark of Ashby, Mass. , and Wayne of Harvard, Mass. ; his daughter, Laurel Feraco of Medford, Mass. ; two sisters, Nancy Chance of Denver and Janet Theall of Media, Pa. ; and eight grandchildren .
A funeral was to be held yesterday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory in Hampton.
Richard Thompson, glassworker; at 82
HAMPTON, N.H. -- Richard E. Thompson, 82, died last Sunday at Sunbridge Exeter Nursing Home in Exeter. .
Raised in Boston , Mr. Thompson lived in Revere, Mass., for 35 years before moving to Newmarket , and more recently, Hampton.
During World War II , he served in the Coast Guard and was stationed in Alaska.
He was a member of the Glaziers & Glassworkers Local 1044 of Boston , and for 57 years was a member of the American Legion Post 19 of Somerville, Mass.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Virginia (Trevethan) , he leaves his son, Richard, of Virginia Beach, Va. ; two daughters, Sheila Caruso of Dracut, Mass., and Bonnie Delaney of Newmarket ; two brothers, George of Chelsea, Mass., and John of Largo, Fla. ; eight grandchildren ; one great-grandchild ; and many nieces and nephews .
A funeral Mass was to be said Friday in St. Mary Church in Newmarket. Burial was to be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
