Boston records 55th homicide

Authorities marked the area yesterday where a bicycle and a handgun were found lying on the corner of Washington and Northampton streets after the shooting. Police declined to say whether the items were connected to the shooting at the barbershop. Police also apprehended a suspect in the case.

It was a bloody 24 hours in Boston. The carnage between late Wednesday and last night began at a bus stop in Mattapan that took the life of a 17-year-old Roslindale man, making him the city's 55th homicide of the year, one more than at the same time last year, when the city hit a 10-year high in slayings.
