Shots kill one, injure another in Dorchester

One man died, and another person was critically wounded last night in a double shooting in Dorchester, police said.

Officers released little information about the victims or the motive for the shooting, which occurred on Florida Street about 9:35 p.m.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Paramedics took the other to Boston Medical Center. In their posting on bpdnews.com, police said the person was being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police did not say whether they had arrested any suspects last night.

It was the city's 70th homicide of the year, five more than at the same time last year, when there was a 10-year high.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at 617-343-4470 or leave an anonymous message at 800-494-TIPS.
