The seven days of Kwanzaa

Community Kwanzaa events are scheduled each evening from Tuesday through New Year's Day, matching the celebration's seven principles. They are hosted by state Representative Gloria L. Fox in collaboration with The Community Kwanzaa , a network of local African-American leaders, community members, and cultural centers. All events are free; guests are asked to bring a piece of fruit or other small item to symbolize an offering to the holiday and community.

Tuesday, Umoja: 7 p.m., Smith Leadership Academy , 23 Leonard St., Dorchester.

Wednesday, Kujichagulia: 7 p.m., St. Katharine Drexel Church , 517 Blue Hill Ave., Dorchester.

Thursday, Ujima: 7 p.m., Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston's Yawkey Club of Roxbury , 115 Warren St., Roxbury.

Friday, Ujamaa: 7 p.m., Muhammad's Mosque 11 , 10 Washington St., Dorchester.

Saturday, Nia: 7 p.m., Freedom House , 14 Crawford St., Dorchester.

Sunday, Kuumba: 7 p.m., Roxbury Community College Student Center cafeteria, second floor, 1234 Columbus Ave., Roxbury.

Monday, New Year's Day, Imani: 4 p.m., Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists , 300 Walnut Ave., Roxbury .
