Authorities are investigating the death of a 20-year-old Boston University student who was found at 2:02 a.m. yesterday, after police responded to calls of an unconscious male outside a college dormitory at 46 Mountfort St. Michael Robertson of New Jersey apparently fell from the window of his fourth-floor room, said Colin Riley, university spokesman. Robertson was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center about 2:30 a.m., officials said. The death is under investigation.
Stoughton man held in attacks
Police arrested a Stoughton man on charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he allegedly stabbed two people at the Avalon nightclub at 15 Lansdowne St. shortly after the club's closing at 2 a.m. yesterday. On arrival to the scene, officers found two victims suffering from multiple stab wounds. One was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital and the other to Boston Medical Center for treatment. Police said neither victim's injuries appeared to be life-threatening. James Jolley, 26, will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.GLOUCESTER
Former officer freed from jail
The Rockport Police Department's former domestic violence officer charged with firing a weapon during a dispute with his wife has been released from jail on personal recognizance. Robert O'Neil, 38, was released despite objections from prosecutors and his wife, Rosa Benito, who told the court "I don't feel safe," according to the Gloucester Daily Times. Gloucester District Court Judge Richard Mori on Friday released O'Neil, and ordered him confined to his sister's home in Walpole. O'Neil is wearing a monitoring device, and can leave the home only to meet with his lawyer or attend a mandatory substance abuse program. He's been suspended without pay. Ark. man held in kidnapping
An Arkansas man is to be arraigned today in Newton District Court on charges that he kidnapped a woman from Arkansas, State Police said. Charles D. Minyard, 48, of Searcy, called police about 7:40 p.m. Friday from his tractor-trailer parked in the Newton Service Plaza on Route 128 south saying he wanted to clear up an allegation that he had kidnapped a woman who was in his tractor-trailer. Police arrested Minyard about 9 p.m. on charges of kidnapping, threats to commit bodily injury, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The alleged victim, an adult female, was taken into protective custody. Minyard was held on $25,000 cash bail.ANDOVER
Driver held on multiple charges
At 3 a.m. yesterday, State Police arrested a New Hampshire man on drunken driving and weapons charges after a stop on Interstate 93 South in Andover. Trooper John Ragosa stopped Michael Garcia, 24, of West Swansea, N.H., for erratic driving. After citing Garcia for drunken driving and a moving violation, Ragosa found a loaded semiautomatic handgun in the car, police said. Garcia was held on $5,000 cash bail. He'll be arraigned today in Lawrence District Court.MEDFORD
Death of man, 21, probed
Authorities were investigating yesterday the death of a 21-year-old Medford man. Police found James Bottiglio lying in the courtyard area of the LaPrise Village about 2:20 a.m., according to the Middlesex district attorney's office.
