The National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research, based at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was commissioned to track college and high school injuries between 1982 and 2005. The research was funded by a grant from the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the American Football Coaches Association, and the National Federation of State High School Associations.
