Sailors at regatta
The event billed as the largest high school sailing regatta in the country will be held tomorrow and Tuesday on the Charles River.
The Massachusetts Bay League's Fleet Racing Championship at Community Boating will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. each day. More than 200 sailors and 75 boats are expected to compete. There will be three courses; awards for individuals and teams will be presented on Tuesday.
Member schools of the Massachusetts Bay League include Duxbury, Hingham, North Quincy, Sharon, and Noble and Greenough.
Spectators are encouraged to watch the event from the Esplanade in Boston and Cambridge.
UMass hitter honored
University of Massachusetts at Boston outfielder Sean Ketterer of Plymouth was selected as a Little East Conference second-team all-star.
Ketterer, a senior, hit .348 and collected 29 RBIs during the Beacons' 18-19 record this season. He also showed his ability in right field, making one error in 102 chances and picking up three assists.
The longest hitting streak of the season belongs to Ketterer, who hit safely in 13 consecutive games from March 21 to April 14.
Sheridan stars at Colby
Colby College sophomore Kate Sheridan of Hingham scored three goals to help Colby's women's lacrosse team defeat Amherst College, 10-8, and earn the program's first trip to the New England Small College Athletic Conference championship game.
Colby lost to Middlebury College, 10-8, on May 6 to end its season.
Sheridan scored 43 goals and six game-winning goals throughout the season. She had a total of 59 points and earned a selection to the NESCAC Women's Lacrosse All-Conference first team.
Sheridan, a Tabor Academy graduate, put up similar numbers last season, collecting 46 goals and 13 assists as a freshman and was named the conference's Rookie of the Year.
Golf tourney benefits Shriners Hospitals
The second annual Disaster Relief Golf Tournament will be held June 8 at the Atlantic Country Club in Plymouth.
Proceeds will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children -- Boston. The money will go toward "providing comprehensive acute, reconstructive, and rehabilitative care to children with burn injuries at no charge to patients, parents, insurance companies, or any other third parties."
Jimmy Fund donations
Two major donations have been made to the Father Bullock Run/Walk/Shuffle to be held June 10 in Sharon.
Sharon Commons donated $6,000, and Herb Chambers Lexus of Norwood donated $5,000 to the event, which is in its third year.
The race raises money for the Jimmy Fund and for Facing History and Ourselves, an educational organization that strives to increase awareness of racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism.
Baseball trip offered
The Hanover Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration forms to win a baseball getaway package.
The package includes one ticket to four different games, including the Boston Red Sox, Portland Sea Dogs, Lowell Spinners, and Pawtucket Red Sox. A Saturday night stay at Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland is also included.

Summer skating
Ice skating programs for all ages and abilities will be offered at Asiaf Arena in Brockton and Armstrong Arena in Plymouth this summer. Trained staff and skating instructors will be available.
