Teenager is slain in Dorchester
16-year-old found near police station
A 16-year-old was fatally stabbed in Dorchester yesterday evening, just blocks from a district police station.
The teenager, whom police described only as a male, was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center after the 7:47 p.m. stabbing, police said. No arrests were made, and police would not say whether they had suspects.
The slaying raised the number of homicides in the city this year to 23, one more than at the same time last year.
The stabbing occurred at Havelock Street and Blue Hill Avenue, two blocks north of the District 3 police station. Yellow police tape stretched across Havelock last night and kept passersby back, as police searched for evidence.
Late last night, police focused their search a grassy plot of land at the intersection. A truck with large lights was brought in to illuminate parts of the area. where police searched.
Detectives on nearby Wilcock Street interviewed potential witnesses.
Neighbors gathered on Wilcock Street, one street north of where the stabbing took place. They said the killing was in retaliation for the nonfatal stabbing of a 13-year-old earlier this year, but police declined to comment on a motive.
"Boston's gone crazy," said a neighbor who did not want to give her name. ![]()
