Police divers recovered a body found floating in Boston Harbor near the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal yesterday afternoon.
Boston police were called to the terminal just before 2 p.m. after a person reported seeing the body, which was pulled from the water about an hour later, police said.
Police could not identify the person's gender, age, or cause of death.
"It's up to the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death," said James Kenneally, a police spokesman.
Divers pulled the body out of the water near a popular spot where local workers eat lunch.
Many of them were finishing lunch when divers appeared.
"I was having my lunch outside, and I saw the state and Boston police boats," said Kristyn Bogli, 21, who works at a distribution company on the pier. "I saw a diver jump into the water. They were looking for something."
The State Police dive team assisted in the recovery.
The Suffolk district attorney's office and Boston police are investigating.
