What to do

Tolerance
Rather than trying to evict the beaver, learn to accept its presence.

Enclosures
Heavy-gauge fencing can protect trees and shrubs.

Dam removal
Often a short-term solution to flooding problems, because beavers are attracted to the sound of escaping water and will quickly rebuild. Permit required.

Water controls
Beaver pipes regulate water levels behind dams. Permit required.

Removal
Beavers must be trapped by an experienced trapper using a box or cage-type traps and only between Nov. 1 and April 15. License required.
