State Police are investigating a sexual assault in Randolph in which the assailant allegedly impersonated a police officer. A woman was traveling north on Route 24 early Sunday when she was pulled over by what she believed to be an unmarked police cruiser. An older, heavyset white male with crew-cut gray hair and a goatee identified himself as a police officer and ordered the woman out of her vehicle. The suspect, whose vehicle had a single blue, police-style light, sexually assaulted the woman. He then got back in his vehicle and left the area. Anyone with information regarding the assault is asked to contact the State Police, at 617-698-5840.

Bank robber targets branches
A weekend bank robbery involved multiple branches -- of the leafy variety. According to police, a man with tree branches duct-taped to his head and torso walked into a Citizens Bank just as it opened Saturday morning and demanded cash from a teller. Police said the disguise was the most bizarre they'd ever seen. "He really went out on a limb," Sergeant Ernie Goodno said yesterday. The robber, who showed no weapon, fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Though the branches and leaves obscured much of the man's face, someone who saw images from the bank's security camera recognized the robber and called police. James Coldwell, 49, of Manchester, was arrested at his home early yesterday and was expected to be arraigned today. (AP)Portsmouth, N.H.
