Young man is fatally shot in Roxbury
An unidentified young man was shot to death last night in Roxbury, making him the city's 34th homicide victim of the year, police said.
At the same time last year, there were 36 homicides in Boston.
Police said the victim, whose name was not immediately known, was between his late teens and early 20s.
He was shot at about 6 p.m. near Walnut Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard in Roxbury. Police said they do not know how he was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he died at about 7:30 p.m. Police had not made make any arrests last night. In another shooting, a 22-year-old Roxbury man died of multiple gunshot wounds he suffered July 4, police said yesterday.
Michael Wiggins was shot shortly after 7 p.m. on the corner of Arbutus and Ashton streets in Dorchester. He died Tuesday at Boston Medical Center.
Police said they have not made any arrests in that case. ![]()
