Plymouth holds waterfront festival

PLYMOUTH -- The 2007 Downtown Plymouth Waterfront Festival is this weekend. This year's event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mayflower II.

Festivities include duck races, an "America's Hometown Plymouth Idol" competition, and live entertainment on three stages.

On Saturday afternoon, look for young cyclists pedaling along Union Street to Water Street and up to the main stage at Brewster Garden. The 10thGear JettRiders are scheduled to finish a 3,800-mile cross-country journey at the festival at about 2 p.m.

They're riding for Jett Foundation, a Pembroke-based organization that supports research in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. A ceremony is to be held in honor of their efforts.
