Two pedestrians were killed in unrelated incidents in the Boston area yesterday, police said.

A 17-year-old male from Norwood was killed when he was struck by a car on Winter Street in Westwood, police said.

The victim was crossing the street about 5:20 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle operated by a 49-year-old Norwood woman.

He was taken to Caritas Norwood Hospital and then to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he died. The condition of the vehicle's operator was not known last night, but Westwood police said they believed she was taken to Caritas Norwood Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Westwood police, State Police, and the Norfolk district attorney's Office are investigating.

About 4:30 p.m., Boston police officers saw a gray minivan turning right from West Boundary Road onto Washington Street in Jamaica Plain and hit an elderly woman, about 20 feet from the intersection. She was pronounced dead at Brigham and Women's Hospital, police said.

The driver of the minivan, a female in her 20s, was not hurt in the accident, police said. The crash is under investigation.

The names of those involved in the fatalities were not released last night, pending family notification, police said.

Correction: Because of a reporting error, a story in yesterday's City & Region section about two pedestrians killed in accidents listed an incorrect location for the intersection of West Boundary Road and Washington Street. It is in West Roxbury.
