A man in his 20s, shot multiple times late Friday on a Roxbury street, died early yesterday at Boston Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Ruel Davis died at the hospital after being shot on Walnut Avenue, said Janet Lynch, the spokeswoman. "He died after midnight," Lynch said last night during a telephone interview.

Lynch said she did not know the exact time or the cause of Davis's death. Davis, whose address is not known, was rushed to the hospital shortly after 10 p.m. Friday. The shooting took place outside an apartment building near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Rockland Street.

Officer James Kenneally, a department spokesman, declined to comment on the shooting, which remains under investigation. The fatal shooting occurred a day after a double shooting on Walnut Avenue left two men wounded in the leg and buttocks.

Police said they are not certain if the two incidents are related.

Also in Roxbury, police yesterday were investigating a shooting at 2:45 a.m. in the area of Torrey and Moody streets. The victim, who was not identified, suffered life-threatening injuries and was also taken to Boston Medical Center.

Anyone with information about either shooting may leave an anonymous tip on the Crime Stopper's hotline at 1-800-494-8477.
