FILMS AND FORUMS
Exeter, N.H.: The Green Cup Challenge at Phillips Exeter Academy offers opportunities to learn about global warming through a film and speaker series. The film series addresses the life and death of General Motors's electric car in "Who Killed The Electric Car?" on Tuesday, and the influence of a powerful corporation on governments, the media, and consumers on global warming in "Out of Balance" on Feb. 19. Films begin at 7 p.m. in Assembly Hall, in the Academy Building on Front Street. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The speaker series is held Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m. Chad Kister, an author and filmmaker, will speak this week on the need to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil drilling, the impact of climate change on the Arctic and Alaska, and what can be done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The event will be held in the Phelps Academy Center Forum on Tan Lane. Feb. 21, the PEA Faculty Panel Roundtable discussion will focus on "How Global Warming Affects All Aspects of Society - Economic, Religious, Health and Social Justice." FUND-RAISER
Salem: Tabernacle Congregational Church, 50 Washington St., will host the second annual "Shamrock for HAWC," a Celtic music concert to benefit Help for Abused Women and Children, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Salem residents Jen and Bob Strom, well-known North Shore Celtic musicians, will perform with other local favorites. $15, students and seniors $10. 978-745-9391.

ICE SKATING PERFORMANCE
Durham, N.H.: Enjoy a family-friendly night at the Whittemore Center, 128 Main St., on Friday, with the University of New Hampshire Icecats as the team hosts its third annual Nationals Send-Off and Winter Show. The UNH team will soon compete against 12 top universities and colleges from around the country in the US National Synchronized Skating Championships in Providence. Other nationally recognized synchronized skating teams, single skaters, and pairs from across the nation will perform in this free hour-long show, which begins at 8 p.m. Meet the members of the Icecats and UNH's mascot, Wild E. Cat, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Donations will be accepted and the team will hold a bake sale and a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds supporting the Icecats. unh.edu/figureskating, rsox1011@verizon.net.

MUSIC
Hamilton: Ipswich native Jake Armerding will perform Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community House of Hamilton and Wenham, 284 Bay Road, Route 1A. Armerding, who sings and plays violin, mandolin, and guitar, was honored as WUMB's "Best New Artist" in 2001. His father, Taylor Armerding, will join him. Newburyport: Visit the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and Mass. Audubon Joppa Flats for a day of free activities at the third annual Merrimack River Eagle Festival, Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Performer Henry Lappen uses beautiful masks and comic portrayal of birds in his presentation, "Birds in Their Habitat." The show will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Other activities include live eagle demonstrations and guided tours of bald eagle sites.
