James Russell, 78; owned company
MARBLEHEAD - James W. Russell, a lifelong Marblehead resident, died March 17 at his home. He was 78.
Mr. Russell joined the US Navy while in high school. He served aboard the USS Sea Coral for about three years before being honorably discharged.
He later owned and operated Jim Russell Trucking for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Russell was the husband of the late Josephine (Amor), his first wife, and Fedora (Fernald).
He leaves a son, James, of Bethlehem, N.H.; a daughter, Janice Flint of Danvers; four sisters, Nancy Gallo and Sally Byors, both of Marblehead, Catherine Mancini of North Andover, and Audrey Mitchell of Derry, N.H.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held yesterday in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
Born in Danvers, he later moved to Salem with his family and graduated from Salem High School in 1944.
After high school, Mr. Malionek served with the US Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Malionek served as a patrolman for the Beverly Police Department for 32 years. He also worked as a driver's education instructor for many years.
He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Salem.
He leaves his wife, Joanne (Lee); a son, Michael, of Lynn; four daughters, Debra Collins of Danvers, Kathleen of Lawrence, Karen Capozzi of New Mexico, and Janet Bohn of Tewksbury; three sisters, Mary McHugh of Peabody and Clara Flowers and Theresa Jaworski, both of Salem; five brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Louis, and Richard, all of Salem, and Henry of Hyde Park; nine grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was said Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
Born and raised in Salem, she graduated from Salem High School in 1957.
She worked as a receptionist for Beverly Pediatrics for 10 years prior to her retirement.
She leaves her husband of 48 years, Robert F.; two sons, Donald of Bolton and Jeffrey of Beverly; a daughter, Sharon Page of Rochester, N.H.; a brother, Michael Gallagher of Salem; a sister, Elise Altergott of Vienna, Minn; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Thursday in Central Cemetery, Beverly.
Born and raised in Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
She worked for many years at W.G. Brown's Department Store, and at the Cape Ann Market.
She was a member of the Gloucester Mother of Grace Club and the Madonna del Rosario Society. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Robert S.; three sons, Robert, Phillip, and Gilbert, all of Gloucester; four brothers, Phillip Lovasco of Florida, Busty Lovasco of Beverly, and Sam Lovasco and Frank Lovasco, both of Gloucester; two sisters, Connie Meadows and Mary Sawyer, both of Gloucester; and six grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was said Wednesday in St. Ann's Church, Gloucester. Burial was in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester.
