SUPERINTENDENT FINALISTS - The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School Committee expects to pick its new school superintendent at a meeting on Monday. School Committee chairman Gordon Luciano said the position will be subject to the usual contract negotiations. The advertised salary range was $150,000 to $168,000. SKATING RINK RETURNS TO FULL CAPACITY - The Carousel Family Fun Center indoor skating rink "is back to full capacity" after occupancy was limited by fire officials. The rink, which can accommodate more than 420 people, had since February been held to a maximum of 99 people. Fire Chief Timothy Travers had secured a temporary injunction limiting occupancy until rink owners Robert and Charlene Conway installed a $100,000 automatic sprinkler and alarm system. State law requires buildings that operate as nightclubs, bars, dance halls, or discotheques to have such systems. Travers said the skating rink came under the law because it features loud music and skate-dancing. The fun center celebrated its return to full capacity last Friday with a "Grand Reopening and Cinco de Mayo Extravaganza." - Christine LegereREGION
COLLECTING FOR KIDS - The staff of Milton Pediatrics, a South Shore medical practice, will be collecting used toys and children's clothing on Saturday to benefit Cradles To Crayons, the Quincy-based organization that distributes children's items to kids in need. Donors are urged to bring the gently used goods to 340 Wood Road in Braintree from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The medical practice will have a large truck ready to fill and deliver to Cradles to Crayons. "Our nurses and staff have completely embraced this project - we are passing out flyers to all our patients, and we will be there Saturday to staff the dropoff," said Dr. Lisa Wong.
