State should fine for unused poles

Email|Print|Single Page| Text size +

Your article about second [utility] poles relates to Lexington ("Double poles get undivided attention," Globe Northwest, May 11). This situation exists in many communities. I live in Arlington and have had a second pole for five years - well beyond the 90 days.

My pole has had all utilities removed from it for close to a year and it still hasn't been removed. It's a shame utilities claim their costs go up due to infrastructure improvement but choose not to practice what they preach.

The state should quit kowtowing to them and put some teeth into the law by fining them on a per diem beyond the 90 days.
