Pan-Mass. Challenge Kids Rides: Pan-Massachusetts Challenge Kids Rides needs tots, children, and teens to participate in bike rides to raise money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. June 1, the PMC Marblehead Kids Ride, is 10-11 a.m., with a party until noon, at Eveleth School, Brooks Road. Registration at 9 a.m. June 8, the PMC Topsfield Kids Ride will be at Bradley Palmer State Park, 25 Asbury St. Check-in at 1 p.m. with rides throughout the afternoon. $10 registration fee and a $25 fund-raising minimum (includes registration fee). Panel discussion on teen employment: Swampscott Public Library, 61 Burrill St., free discussion on "Your First Paycheck: A Program for Teens and Their Parents on Employment Rights and Job Hunting Tips" on May 20 at 7 p.m. Elizabeth L. Wilson, an employment attorney, will present information on the laws on teen employment, work permits, minimum wage, and tips. Darren Goldman, manager of Peabody Newbury Comics store, will discuss what he looks for in hires, potential do's and don'ts for applicants, and what makes a successful new employee. Hartshorne House fund-raiser: Dockside Restaurant, 1099 Main St., will hold a fund-raiser to benefit Col. James Hartshorne House's Maintenance and Preservation Fund. May 21, 6-9 p.m., the restaurant will donate 10 percent of all sales to the Hartshorne House.
