Edmund Johnson of Rye, N.H., one of the founders of the Pease Greeters, has been named Marine of the Year for the New England Division.

Johnson, 78, who earned a Silver Star for gallantry in action during the Korean War, was an executive with General Foods, Nashua Corp., and United Shoe Machinery prior to his retirement.

He is among the group of volunteers on hand to thank Marines and soldiers for their military service when their planes stop at Pease International Airport to refuel while en route or returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
