Charlotte Kane, a nun for 58 years

BEVERLY - Charlotte Kane, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 58 years, died May 27 in Beverly Hospital. She was 79.

Born and raised in Beverly, she was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Beverly. Following high school, she graduated first from Emmanuel College in Boston and later from Boston College.

She leaves a brother, James, of Peabody; and two sisters, Sister Julie Theresa Kane and Ann Englehardt, both of Beverly.

John A. Silva, 51; was a carpenter

SALEM - John A. Silva, a self-employed carpenter, died May 26 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. He was 51.

Born in Sao Jorge, Portugal, in 1961, his family immigrated to Peabody, where he was educated.

He leaves two sons, Matthew and John, both of Salem; a brother, Joseph, of Salem; and a sister, Mary Wright of Hampton, N.H.

Richard M. Russo, GE employee, 73

MARBLEHEAD - Richard M. Russo, a General Electric worker, died May 26 at his home in Marblehead. He was 73.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lynn. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Russo worked for 40 years as a turbine rotary assembler at General Electric in Lynn before his retirement in 1996.

The husband of the late Sandra (Janes), he leaves a son, Mark, and a daughter, Lisa, both of Marblehead; two sisters, Claire Landry of Lynn and Anne Marie Lezenski of Danvers; and three grandchildren.
