Andover: Seven Times Salt performs "A Brave Barrel of Oysters: The Music of Samuel Pepys' London," a concert of early music of the era interspersed with the diarist's words, to open the Society for Historically Informed Performance's 22nd concert season June 11. Belmont: Musician Larry Zarella started out in Massachusetts, detoured for 16 years to Alaska, where he founded the band, Denali Cooks, and is back east again, five records later. Belmont: Gear up! Maine sculptor Jeff Mann believes the automobile to be " . . . the Frankenstein monster that may eventually cause our destruction." Prescient chap, he was taking apart and reassembling cars into artworks even before gas prices began rising. "Car Repair," an exhibition of his car-part assemblages, will be on exhibit June 12 through July 18 at the Belmont Gallery of Art, 19 Moore St. Mann will be on hand for a June 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m., reception and will also discuss his work June 29 at 2 p.m. Open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Free. 617-484-5727.
Lexington: "A Brush with Polymer Clay: The Meeting of Two Artistic Mediums," an exhibition and sale of works by the Polymer Clay and Painters guilds of the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, runs through June 21 at the gallery at 130 Waltham St. The event features clay designs inspired by paintings, art jewelry, sculpture and other objects of fine art. Stoneham: Two of Stone Zoo's newest residents, black bears Bubba and Smokey, recently made their formal debut. Rescued through Appalachian Bear Rescue, the 280-pounders will be among the welcoming committee for "A Wild Affair" later this month. The June 21, 5:30-9:30 p.m., event features food tastings from area restaurants and caterers, a silent auction, live entertainment, dancing, and a chance to stroll among the dens and denizens of the 26-acre zoo.
