Boston police are investigating a spate of violence that started Friday night and included at least four shootings and the gun possession arrest of a 17-year-old city youth.

The first shootings occurred about 10 p.m. Friday. Police found two men wounded at an apartment complex on Crispus Attucks Place in Roxbury. Both victims were taken to nearby hospitals and are expected to survive. No arrests were made.

About midnight, a man was shot at the intersection of Judson and Julian streets in Dorchester. The victim was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was said to have injuries that were not life-threatening.

And then, at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday, police in Dorchester heard shots near Darlington Street and Southern Avenue. When they responded, a man ran away, and officers gave chase.

During the pursuit, officers noticed the suspect reaching at his waist. When they caught him, the suspect was not carrying a gun, so they called in a K-9 officer, and a dog quickly found a black and silver 9mm pistol in a pile of tires. Christopher Fauntleroy, 17, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and discharging a firearm near a home, said Officer James Kenneally, a police spokesman. Fauntleroy had been denied access to a party on Darlington Street and allegedly fired shots in the air in anger, Kenneally said.

The violence continued yesterday when a male was shot multiple times about 4 p.m. on Morton Street in Mattapan. He was transported to Boston Medical Center, where his injuries were not considered life-threatening, Boston police said.

None of the victims' names were released, and police said the shootings are under investigation.
