Apollinaire Theatre Company in Chelsea, formerly TheatreZone, presents its sixth season of free outdoor, bilingual theater Wednesday through July 26.

The productions are staged in multiple locations in Mary O'Malley Park on the Chelsea waterfront.

The shows are "The Real Inspector Hound/El Verdadero Inspector Sabueso," by Tom Stoppard, and "Hidden in This Picture/Escondido en la Imagen," by Aaron Sorkin.

The Stoppard play follows two theater critics who become involved in the action while watching a murder mystery. The Sorkin piece is about a film director shooting his final shot when three cows join the scene.

English performances are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Spanish performances are Fridays and Sundays. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m.

For information, directions, or to check the status of the show in the event of rain, call 617-887-2336 or visit apollinairetheatre.com.

FIFTIES FLASHBACK: Director Peter Zachari of Peabody uses Rydell High School's 50th class reunion as the setting for a production of "Grease" presented by Summer Theatre at Salem Friday through July 20 at Salem State College.

"We know 'Grease' is all about great songs and dances and we will have lots of those," said Zachari. "But I also want to bring out the deeper relationships among the characters. The show was [originally] set in 1958, so the 50-year reunion was a natural fit and becomes a wonderful flashback device."

The cast is a mix of Salem State students and alumni. Joey Mirabile of Medford plays Danny, and also choreographed the show. Jamie Slatt of East Boston is Sandy. Katie Meehan of Peabody plays Marty and Natalie Cowell of Salem takes on the role of Miss Lynch.

Performances in college's Mainstage Theatre are Fridays and Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Tickets are $20; $15 for senior citizens. Call 978-542-6290 or visit salemstate.edu/arts.

SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS IN THE PARK: The summer concert season at Maudslay Arts Center in Newburyport kicks off Saturday with the Shaw Brothers presenting traditional and contemporary music, interspersed with humor, stories, and poems. Next Sunday's afternoon concert features the Windham Community Band, which has 60 members ranging in age from teens to senior citizens. It includes three groups: the concert band, swing band, and flute ensemble. Throughout the summer, Saturday concerts are held at 7 p.m. and feature patio seating for $20 and lawn seating for $18. Children 12 and under are invited to sit on the lawn for free. Sunday concerts are at 2 p.m. and offer patio and lawn seating for $10, $8 for senior citizens. Children 12 and under are free. Audience members are invited to bring picnic lunches. In case of rain, shows are moved inside the concert barn. The center is adjacent to Maudslay State Park on Curzon Mill Road. 978-499-0050; calmvalley.org.

AUTHOR'S CORNER: Dennis McFarland reads from his new novel, "Letter From Point Clear," at Jabberwocky Bookshop in Newburyport at 7 p.m. Friday. The book is about a brother and sister who return to their Southern hometown to rescue their younger sister from her marriage to an evangelical preacher, only to have their expectations turned upside down.

IN LOCAL GALLERIES: "Birds Do It: An Installation by Tin Can Sally," opens at the Monserrat College of Art's Schlosberg Alumni Gallery Tuesday and runs through July 31. A reception with the artist will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Tin Can Sally is a pseudonym for Sally Seamans, the college's slide librarian. Seamans sculpts exclusively with printed tin - such as olive oil, tuna, spice, and coffee tins - which she cuts into shapes that are then assembled with wire and adhesive. She creates mobiles, jewelry, clocks, and for this exhibit, birds.
