Boston should enable scooters

Thank you for the article on moped issues ("Mopeds' uncharted ground," City Weekly, July 20). Registered motorcycles share many of the parking issues you mentioned plus more.

I have parked in a legal space with my motorcycle, paid the meter, and returned to find a car has squeezed in with me (twice they even moved my bike over to do it) and I received the ticket not the car. Many public garages will not allow motorcycles to park. Seems the city could promote motorcycle and scooter parking to ease traffic congestion and emissions, rather than ignore it or make it harder. Four motorcycles could easily fit in one space if allowed. Downtown, there was a traffic island filled with 30 gas-saving motorcycles commuting every day until someone decided to tow them.
