A 39-year-old Malden man has been arrested on charges of robbing a disabled man last month at the Malden Center MBTA Station.

Scott A. Marra is being held on $10,000 bail at Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority police headquarters. Police say Marra grabbed the victim's wallet from his hand as the man, who has Lou Gehrig's disease and uses a wheelchair, waited for the elevator, officials said.

The wallet contained cash, medical ID cards, and an MBTA pass for people with disabilities, police said.

It also contained a credit card that Marra allegedly used to buy $200 worth of gasoline at a Hess station in Malden. Authorities said they caught up with Marra after he used the credit card a second time. He was arrested Friday afternoon.

"The transit police were able to obtain information through the fraudulent credit card transactions, as well as witness statements, and used images captured from surveillance cameras" at both the T stop and the gas station, said MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo.

Transit police are looking for a second suspect who allegedly used the victim's disabled persons pass to gain discounted rides on the T.

The victim, Steve Saling, 39, of Chelsea, thanked police for their work after the July 14 incident.

"I am thrilled to know there [is] a little justice in the world," Saling said in an e-mail to police released by the MBTA. "I'd love to meet him just to see if there is any remorse. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Marra is scheduled to be arraigned today on an unarmed robbery charge in Malden District Court.
