Acton: "Jane Eyre, the Musical" retains the tenor of Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel set amid the dreariness of Victorian England, even as it moves from the title character's rise from childhood mistreatment, secrets, and love lost to new beginnings and eventual reconciliations. First produced on Broadway in 2000, the musical features 20 original songs, replete with haunting melodies and soaring harmonies. Lexington: The Lexington Symphony, with guest violinist Irina Muresanu, will perform Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35, Nov. 8, 8 p.m., at Cary Hall, 1605 Massachusetts Ave. Composed in 1878 and premiered in Vienna in 1881, it is considered to be one of, if not the most technically taxing pieces for violin in the classical repertoire. Reading: The Colonial Chorus Players offer up something hot for cold November days. "Sweet Charity," the trials and tribulations of Fandango Ballroom dancer Charity Hope Valentine, is a high-kicking, rousing musical about high hopes that "There's Gotta be Something Better Than This." Westford: Artist Kathryn Dunn will show some of her "Seasons of Life and Love" through the month at the Parish Center for the Arts, 10 Lincoln St. Romance, marriage, motherhood, and first loves all come to the fore in her whimsical paintings inspired by Marc Chagall and Gustav Klimt. A reception with the artist will be held Nov. 8, 1-4 p.m. The exhibit will be on display Nov. 9, 16, 23, and 30, noon-2 p.m. and by appointment.
