TOWN ADMINISTRATOR SEARCH - Selectmen on Dec. 4 will decide who will take over the helm as town administrator, but first they must narrow the current field of five candidates. All five were interviewed this week, and tomorrow, at 10 a.m. in Town Hall, selectmen will choose two finalists. In-state candidates are Uxbridge town manager Jill Myers, Walpole assistant town administrator James Johnson, and Ashburnham town administrator Kevin Paicos. Out-of-state candidates are Paul Beecher, former city manager of Kingman, Ariz.; and Patrick Salerno, former city manager of Sunrise, Fla. Selectmen will interview the two finalists during their regular meeting on Dec. 2. They will then make a final decision two days later. APARTMENTS FOR MEMORY-IMPAIRED SENIORS - The Plymouth Crossings senior living community will hold a grand opening ceremony from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today for its $2.2 million wing for seniors with Alzheimer's disease or other memory impairments. "There has been an explosion of diagnosed Alzheimer's cases, which has become the impetus for the senior living industry to meet the need for memory care," said Jeanne Downey, executive director of Plymouth Crossings. Plymouth Crossings, which offers traditional assisted living in 51 apartments, has added 16 one- and two-bedroom apartments in a secured wing that will accommodate 19 memory-impaired residents. The new apartments feature unique design accommodations, including bright colors for spatial recognition, bathroom fixtures in different colors for easier identification, and carpeting with special textures and hues for secure footing. - Christine Legere© Copyright 2008 Globe Newspaper Company.
