Walk on the dark side
Today, 11/23: Take a journey to the Dark Side of Boston with Boston by Foot. The 90-minute walking tour will take you through seamy parts of the Hub's history, including organized crime, smallpox, and the fire of 1872. Tuesday, 11/25: Learn about the first woman executed by the US government through a lecture by Kate Clifford Larson, author of "The Assassin's Accomplice: Mary Surratt and the Plot to Kill Abraham Lincoln." The book tells the story of Surratt and her central role in the conspiracy that led to the 16th president's death, using interviews, confessions, and court testimony. A free pass to the zoo
Friday, 11/28: Once your family has recovered from the traditional Thanksgiving feast coma, head to the Franklin Park Zoo. The zoo offers free admission on the day after Thanksgiving, giving kids a chance to burn off the energy they would normally use in school.
