Editor's farewell note
This is the final edition of City Weekly. Over the last 17 years, we've informed, entertained, and occasionally annoyed you, our readers. We hope you have enjoyed the section as much as we have loved producing it for you.
The Globe is discontinuing City Weekly in order to cut costs, but will continue to cover the communities of Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline elsewhere in the paper and on Boston.com.
Starting this week, readers in Somerville will receive Globe North and readers in Brookline will receive Globe West, which are regional news sections published on Thursdays and Sundays. For more information about changes in the Globe's regional sections, go to www.bostonglobe.com/rezone.
