Five area high school track and field athletes to watch this spring.

Ryan Davila, Lowell: The junior shot putter placed 19th last month at the Nike Indoor Nationals, with a throw of 52 feet, 11½ inches.

Emily Jones, Bromfield: The senior's resume is chock full of state titles and state records in the mile and 2-mile. Jones led Bromfield to its fourth straight Division 4 indoor track championship and is on pace to bring home another title this spring.

Chris McConnell, Andover: The junior was a force during indoor season, winning the 55-meter state title. He is currently ranked number four in the country in the 55 after helping propel the Warriors to the Division 1 indoor track state championship.

Cassandra Ryding, Westford: The senior placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at last season's All-State meet. Ryding put in extra time with a private coach in the offseason.

Davis VanOpdorp, Winchester: The senior strung together an impressive campaign last spring, going undefeated in the Middlesex League in the 300-meter hurdles and winning the Division 3 title.
