In what has been a tradition since 2003, the Topsfield Fair has leased a motorcycle for the town's Police Department for the coming year.
The fair has been providing the town with a motorcycle as a good-will gesture ever since community policing grants ended.
The motorcycle plays an important role during traffic control for the Topsfield Fair, which draws thousands of visitors to the town in the fall.
"We're just trying to help the town," said James P. O'Brien, general manager of the fair. "I think [the town] would be hard-pressed to do it without us."
