Triathlon fund-raiser

The 2011 Cohasset Triathlon, which benefits type-1 diabetes research, will include Olympian Gary Hall Jr. and a team of 18 people with the disease. The race starts at 8 a.m. next Sunday and features a quarter-mile ocean swim at Sandy Beach, followed by a 12-mile bike course and a 3.2-mile run around Little Harbor. Honorary co-captains of the Tri Team for Diabetes are Sam Lyons, whose father suffered a fatal heart attack in the inaugural Cohasset Triathlon in 2007, and Cohasset resident Finn Doherty. Both boys are 11, have type-1 diabetes, and plan to compete in the triathlon when they become eligible at age 13.
