SHARON
Potential articles for the Nov. 14 Town Meeting include proposals for a local meals tax of 0.75 percent and a local room tax, and to change setback requirements in Post Office Square, the town center. State law allows cities and towns to impose a room tax of up to 6 percent (6.5 percent in Boston) in addition to the state room tax of 5.7 percent. The Board of Selectmen has not finalized the details of the articles, but expects to discuss them this month. The board may add or delete articles before the warrant is set. Also on the list are spending articles that would help create a 1-acre park downtown and purchase an antique, former Sharon firetruck. - Jennette Barnes![]()
