The Stoughton Board of Health will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste, Syringe, and Used Tire Disposal Day on Saturday, Oct. 15, 8 a.m. to noon at the O’Donnell Middle School, 211 Cushing St. Among the household objects and materials that will be accepted are fluorescent lamps, computer monitors, and household batteries as well as paint thinners and antifreeze. A complete list of household hazardous wastes that will be accepted can be viewed at Stoughton.org. A fee will be charged for the disposal of car and truck tires, auto batteries, and propane tanks. There will also be a free collection of needles, syringes, and lancets in puncture-proof containers. The collection is for Stoughton residents only and no material from commercial operations will be accepted. - Rich Fahey
