Town and school officials from Holbrook met with their Avon counterparts Sept. 8 to discuss cooperating in a formal, consultant-led study of school regionalization. William Phelan, Holbrook’s interim town administrator, said he hopes to hold similar meetings with Abington and Braintree. Although Holbrook leaders have talked about regionalization in the past, the Massachusetts School Building Authority said in May it would not allow the town to move forward with a high school building project until it completes a formal regionalization study with an outside consultant. Abington Superintendent of Schools Peter Schafer told the Globe earlier this year that his community would need to see a clearer benefit, adding, “I don’t believe that people in Abington are necessarily seeing that.’’ - Jennette Barnes
