Portsmouth, N.H.
The City Council is expected to vote tomorrow on a new contract for the city patrolmen’s union that has already been approved by the Police Commission. If the contract is OK’d, officers’ annual salaries will increase by $11,000 over the six-year term of the agreement and their contributions to their retirement and health care plans will increase by $5,100 per year per officer. The officers have had no pay increases since their last contract expired in 2008. Three previous tentative agreements were approved by the Police Commission, but rejected by the City Council.
