Swampscott
Last week, the state awarded a $1.02 million grant toward the purchase of equipment for the shared emergency dispatch center at Lynn Police headquarters that will be called the Lynn-Swampscott Regional Public Safety Answering Point. In May, the two municipalities signed an agreement for the Lynn Police Department to provide 911 call-answering services and police and fire dispatch operations, as well as prisoner housing for the town of Swampscott. For $75,000 annually, Lynn previously provided fire dispatch services for Swampscott, but agreed earlier this year to expand the agreement to the other services at no additional cost. - David Rattigan ![]()
